I've narrowed down to Brooklyn Bedding Aurora v. Winkbed Soft (or lux firm)

Male, 5’10", 170lbs, side sleeper (occasional back)

I’ve finally stumbled across this forum and I have to say it really is a trove of invaluable information (especially when Phoenix jumps in with seemingly never-ending insight!). Long story short, I recently purchased a Tempurpedic Breeze Medium Hybrid. I’ve slept on it for almost 3 weeks, and, well, I genuinely dislike it. I’ve crawled/walked on it a lot, and it just doesn’t seem to be soft enough for me. I sleep on my side, and my shoulders/neck are in a lot of pain (a good amount of twitching in my left shoulder/tricep now, too). My hips also feel out of line, like I just don’t lay right. Thus, since I’m within my return window, I’m likely returning and going with one of the aforementioned beds in the subject. I will be going to the NYC showroom in a few weeks to test them out.

While I think I really love the Winkbed (the thought of the pillow top interests me), seeing Phoenix’s warnings about the longevity of the mattress has me worried. Based on your experiences, what are the red flags I should look out for? Based on my height/weight, should I really expect divots in the Winkbed after only 6+ months? Would really appreciate anyone and everyone’s feedback!

Did you get a response? I’ve narrowed my choices down to these as well, and perhaps the Nest Alexander Hybrid. I’ve tried Casper, Saatva, Dreamcloud, all too firm.

Brooklyn Bedding Oceano and Winkbed are two of my contenders, so I am interested as well!

Hey sroyal91,

Welcome to the TMU forum  ! Thanks for your question.

Happy to hear that you’re enjoying the site and finding the articles and resources useful for your research. I’m sorry to hear that your recent Tempurpedic Breeze Medium Hybrid mattress didn’t suit your comfort and support needs, sroyal91. As you have several other posts going on the forum regarding different replacement options, I won’t confuse things by starting a possible remedy dialog here for trouble shooting your Breeze Medium Hybrid. Good job on making showroom visits for testing as that will be the surest way to explore how different materials/ constructions feel to you and help you begin to narrow down on choices.

NikkiTMU provided excellent feedback on Winkbed in response to your post #3 yesterday and served up specs with thoughts on durability for your review. I see that gingerspice and darrylb have also received counsel from Phoenix and Mattrebuild on their research (thanks for both your Q’s as well  ). You all may find a read of Phoenix’s articles “The Basic Functions of a Mattress” and “Mattress Specifications You Need to Know” helpful for research thought starters, as well as "Finding a Great Mattress Outlet"for developing a question checklist for review with your manufacturer or showroom.

I’ll be following each of your threads to see which way you go and good luck with your research  .

Thanks,
Sensei
