the wool is great - when i lay on it within seconds i felt the dry heat of the wool - perfect
the problem is the polyester backing - it is very stiff - i doubt i could tell the difference between the best latex and the cheapest poly foam through this stiff poly backing !
on the plus side there is very little worry about this backing failing - it looks bulletproof - it looks like you could hang the thing between two trees and just sleep in it without any support underneath it
i’m not sure how to move forward from this point - certainly it would make NO sense at all to put pillow soft 8LB memory foam underneath this kevlar-like thing. on the other hand sleeping directly on the foam doesn’t sound appealing either because i would be sweating like a pig.
contacted both Dreamsoft Bedware and Amazon about returning it - it seems to be returnable but there is a bit of confusion as to who it is supposed to be returned to.
the real problem though is to figure out how to have both pressure relief and moisture management in the same sleeping surface - i don’t think frankly it can be done LOL
it looks like i will simply have to choose whether i would rather sleep on a hard or damp surface …
i guess maybe i could sleep on the hard wool thing in the summer when there is more perspiration and take it off and sleep directly on the softer foam in winter ?
it is a high quality product - it was very well packaged in a zippered clear plastic bag inside a carton box which had the exact dimensions of the plastic bag - which is cool. and the polyester backing is clearly made to last a long time - it is actually as thick as the nylon straps on most backpacks and such - if it was nylon you could probably stretch it over a river like a bridge and drive over it thats how thick it is. the amount of wool is substantial as well.
so it is an impressive product - i just have no idea what to do with it - or what to do without it !
