HELP!
I’ve already went ahead and bought and built the Malm Frame with Sultan Lade slates(?). I’m really set on purchasing the Kingsdown Gabrielle, is an Ikea platform enough support?
Do I need to upgrade the slates? I only found out now that there are different ones from reading this post: http://www.ikeafans.com/home/ikea-bed-slats-lade-laxeby-luroy/
Or, is it really best to 86 the Ikea platform frame and purchase a box spring and frame?

While the materials in the Malm aren’t the greatest quality (mostly engineered wood products such as fiberboard, particleboard, and MDF) … with the Sultan Lade slats it would probably provide good support for the mattress.
The mattress itself is another matter completely and I would do some further research before considering any mattress where you are making a blind purchase with no way to know the quality of the materials inside it … especially in that budget range.
Post #1 here is the best place to start when you are looking for a new mattress and has the basic information, steps and guidelines you will need to make the best possible choices and will hopefully keep you out of chain stores and away from major brands or any brands for that matter where they won’t disclose the quality of all the materials in their mattress.
I would also suggest reading the results of a forum search on “gabrielle” (you can just click this) before making your mattress purchase.
