Has anyone run into the cover of a latex mattress bunching up?
I bought a SleepEZ 10,000 mattress (queen size, both sides S/M/F) with the standard quilted wool cover, a little over a year ago, and have recently noticed the cover bunching up, to the point where it’s lumpy and uncomfortable to sleep on. I unzipped and shook out the cover, which helped, and then called SleepEZ. Shawn was very nice about it - suggested I take a photo of the cover and send it to him, but said that they’d be happy to “tighten” the cover, no charge except what I pay to ship it to them.
I so far haven’t done that - am just unzipping the cover and shaking it out every few weeks, but don’t really want to keep doing that, so do plan to send Shawn the photo and probably ship them the cover. (Not sure if this will work, but I’m trying to attach a photo of it.)
But I was wondering if anyone else had run into this, had experience with cover tightening that they’d like to share, or had any other thoughts or suggestions.
I am only guessing here… but few things come to mind
Did you look at the stitching around it. Any rips or loosening?
Maybe underneath the cover something ripped, which you wouldn’t see it. Try to gently feel it and see if you notice any inconsistency or changes in texture.
As ceasar2k6 mentioned there could be some damage or defect in the cover but based on your picture it looks like your cover has somehow stretched and become looser than the norm. You could probably tighten it up by adding an inch of material (either latex or polyfoam) inside the cover (either on the bottom or the top) but I would probably send a picture to SleepEZ and then have them either tighten or replace it.
Thanks, Phoenix and ceasar2k6. I will send the cover back to SleepEZ. It probably won’t be for quite a while, as I’m leaving here soon for several months (I hope), but I’ll report back here after I’ve done it, in case anyone else runs into the same thing.
