Latex mattress for teen - thickness?

I am happy owner of latex king size mattress.
Now need to replace my sons mattress. He has Ikea 8" now so I have some questions:

Place where I am going to buy has 2", 3" 6" foam layers.
I plan 1 layer only and my main question is - would be 3" soft dunlop enough for him?
Son weight 100lbs and for his loft bed less height of mattress is better.

Hi pix530,

While the only way to know for certain is based on your son’s actual experience when he sleeps on it … IMO 3" of soft latex would be a little on the thin side and if you are only considering a single layer I would choose a 6" layer. Two layers that add up to either 5" or 6" with at least one of the layers being firmer would also have a better chance of success.

Hi Phoenix,
Again your involvement is highly appreciated. You do great job here. Thank you.

I hear you, so most likely will go with 4" one layer of Dunlop soft.

I cant afford 6" due to the fact of his bed located close to ceiling. So the idea is to replace his existing mattress with something lower profiled to safe these 2"…

Hi pix530,

4"’ would till be on the thin side and would be more typical for babies or infants or perhaps younger children that are lighter so hopefully it will be “thick enough” but you will know whether it’s suitable when your son sleeps on it.

I would also choose at least one firmer layer as well.
