Latex mattress on Vancouver Island. Talalay vs. Dunlop

I’ve been reading this forum and I’m interested in a new latex mattress. Replacing my crappy pillow top 4 year old Mattress, that has 2 hammock nests that cost $1500.00. Could you please tell me the differences and advantages/disadvantages of Talalay latex and Dunlop latex. Are there any Manufacturers direct outlets on the island? Thank-you in advance.

Hi Canadan99,

the main difference between the Talalay and Dunlop process (besides the process itself) is that Dunlop is denser and has a higher support factor (it gets firmer faster than Talalay as you sink into it deeper). For most people it is also a less “lively” verion of latex (although this is somewhat subjective and depends to a degree on weight and the layering of the mattress).

You can find more information about the pros and cons of latex itself and each type in the article here.

There are also some very good choices on the island for manufacturers and direct outlets and you can find them in the Victoria thread here.

Hope this helps
