We are in the process of buying a king sized latex bed.

We are contemplating whether or not we should buy a split bed so that we can customize it later on. We think soft/medium/firm 3 inch layers will work for the both of us. (me 5’9 180 lbs spouse is 5’2 120 lbs).

Questions

  1. Considering buying a split so that if later on we decide to change the order perhaps medium top soft middle will there be any discomfort area in the middle of the bed where there is a split?

  2. Will one later sink lower than the other in a split bed with different firmness levels on each side?

  3. We are sure we like talalay. But if we order talalay for the top two layers and the bottom layer is dunlop will we notice a difference?

For clarity, what are you referring to as a “split” king size bed? Are you getting 2 twin xls or a king size mattress in separate pieces for a DIY project? Noticed this question today as a different topic on expert member Sleep EZ’s forum as"Help with Mattress Purchase post #1". Would like to hear their thoughts on your concerns as they have deep experience and understanding of both latex and individual comfort customization.
