Latex mattress topper too short

I purchased a latex mattress topper as part of building my own mattress and it’s 79 inches instead of 80. When I reached out to the vendor, I was told that it’s a natural material so I shouldn’t expect it to be picture perfect. That doesn’t seem right to me as I don’t see what that has to do with cutting the material. Who’s right?

Both mattresses and toppers tend to have some variance in their actual sizes compared to what is specified. More common compression and rolling of the products can further exacerbate the difference, so there’s generally an acceptable tolerance that various companies will provide which is often an inch or more. While I’d agree with you that ideally these products should be cut to their proper size there is unfortunately some production variance that comes into play on the delivered products.
