I’m on my third mattress (flobed vzone) everyone at FloBeds has been phenomenal and worked with me every bit do the way. I have tried numerous flipping and flipping of sections and can’t seem to find the right fit. I really want this mattress to work due to the customizability of each side, the longevity of latex, as well as the cleanliness of the product but I’m wondering if I need an inner spring? Idk, please help. I’m mainly side sleeper but I’m just not sleeping good. Husband is 230 and primarily back and likes it extra extra firm. I’m 180 mainly side sometimes back and don’t know where to go
Hi there,
I am 6’ 220 (formerly 250+) and my wife is 5’4 135. Both of us are very comfortable in a firm mattress. The mattress we have came in all foam and hybrid and we liked the hybrid.
There are those who will espouse that heavier folks do better on their all latex mattress and others the will suggest a spring support layer.
I have tried both, and I love the support that a spring layer offers. I was not the biggest latex fan until a recent visit to @EuropeanSleep and two of their hybrid latex mattresses just blew me away with comfort, and I was very comfortable with the microcoil layers so much, I mentioned to Steve there, I could literally feel my body contouring on top of the mattress.
I am not sure if my experience is proof that folks can feel great on a variety of mattress styles, but the firmness was just right for me and the additional contouring was an extra plus, even though I like sleeping on a firm flat surface. With their mattress system, it just felt right from the second placed my body on it. I can tell you that the foundations they rest their mattresses on are excellent, which adds to the experience.
You could speak with someone like @PCS and incorporate a spring support layer in conjunction with your customizable sides of your flobeds, depending on what layers are being used. You may find some improvement with edge support and more familiar feel of overall support.
I am not sure what foundation you are using, but a robust, sturdy foundation with characteristics of this type of foundation with or without legs, and construction would be a benchmark you want to look for.
I also see that you were a former fan of the feel of a sterns and foster. The @DLX premier hybrid (which comes available in a split internal comfort layer, in around 8 different firmness choices) does have that traditional older S&F or BR type of feel.
You might be surprised to find that, regardless of what you think your preferences are, there are often several mattresses—or pillows—that can meet your comfort needs. I used to think latex pillows just weren’t for me. In fact, I gave a few away to friends and to my wife, who absolutely loves them. I just couldn’t get comfortable, too soft and squishy, without enough structure for me. But the truth is, they simply weren’t the right latex pillows. Just as your mattress can be made to different firmness levels, if you work with someone who can truly customize your pillow, they can come up with a firmness that works for you.
Recently, I decided to try two uniquely different styles from @EuropeanSleep—and once again, my opinion changed. I now sleep on them every night.
Hopefully, this offers a little food for thought.

Thank you maverick! We have 2x4 across the entire bottom of our bed for our base.
Well that is a solid base, what is the spacing?
