Latex topper on Tempur Pedic - Do I need a cover?

Hi, all! Just like the subject says, I am attempting to soften up a too-firm for me Tempur Pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid. I have a 2" Talalay soft (19 ILD) topper on the way. My question is, should I use a mattress pad or cover over the whole thing? I opted not to get the cover that Sleep EZ sells for their toppers. Was that a bad move? I don’t want to lose the benefit of the latex and then compressing into the foam, but I do like the soft, quilted feel of some covers. Should I just put the sheets right on the latex topper? Thanks in advance!

Try them both to see what works for you,
