Adding more to this question since I didn’t really ask what I wanted to ask. For those of you who have a LMF luxerion latex mattress, do you find that the cover makes the mattress even more firm? I’m about to purchase a king luxerion mattress in either soft or medium (probably medium) but I’m wondering about how the cover affects the feel of the latex. I read a couple of posts from others who said the mattress felt too firm until they unzipped the cover and slept directly on the latex. Is there an issue with the cover that comes with the luxerion mattress?
I posted yesterday about my plans to order the LMF luxerion mattress. I have the mattress in my cart and am about to purchase it, but now I’m having second thoughts. I’ve seen a couple reviews about how the cover is very stiff and adds firmness to the mattress. Would it be better for me to purchase the layers separately and do a diy mattress with a stretchy cover? I’m not sure about the different cover types and I’m worried I’ll lose the benefit of sleeping on latex if the cover affects it.

You may want to give them a call and ask them to compare the firming effect of the cover against the slight softening that will naturally occur, verses going to a stretchy cover (which you could ask them to use, not sure if they can) and how much softening it will provide in addition to natural softening.

Unfortunately, when someone makes a statement like that in writing, it can spread quickly, regardless of its truthfulness. I’m glad you reached out to us before making a final decision. We ship out about 30 to 50 mattresses daily, including our cotton and wool quilted covers. We haven’t had anyone return a mattress due to the cover being too firm in over a year.
Regardless of the cover material, the overall feel and comfort can be adjusted with the layers/components inside. For example, if you purchase a three-layer mattress in the ‘Soft’ configuration and find it too firm after sleeping on it for a week or two, you can soften it up by taking advantage of our layer exchange policy to switch to a softer layer. The cover itself provides a plush immediate feel with an inch of wool. The top cotton finish is a knitted, semi-stretch material that won’t alter the overall feel of the mattress to the point where it’s too firm, regardless of the layers you have inside.

It seemed strange since I haven’t seen any other reviews that said anything negative about the cover.
