He took a cover off one to show me the fire retardant cover (he is checking to see what it is made of) and a handful of talalay came off. However, the topper they are selling may not be latex.

If you mean the PLB toppers … they are all made from Talalay latex even though they make several different types (blended Talalay, 100% natural Talalay and Talalay GL slow and fast response latex)

Online they are listed as slow and quick response toppers, but no contents

They are all different versions of Talalay latex.

I spoke extensively with Mark at Magic Sleeper in Pottstown. He has been very willing to work with me and my sister so we are headed there on Friday. He has a new line of organic cotton and wool covers. Also interesting is that he is moving toward making custom latex mattresses. He is very accommodating and I’m looking forward to seeing is products this week. It appears they are also the most economical.

I would definitely include them in your research. mark is very knowledgeable and they have some good quality/value choices.

Also visited The Organic Mattress Store in Hellertown, PA. Very high quality covers. All Dunlop, no talalay in their brands. They have Green Sleep and Cozy models on the floor also. Lee knows everything about the contents and was very accommodating. We are going to return there also on Friday.

Cozy Pure is one of the manufacturing members of this site which means that I think very highly of the quality and value of their mattresses. They are not the least costly option but I know that Cheryl pays attention to every ingredient she puts in her mattresses … right down to the last thread. You can read more about them here (be aware though that the membership discount only applies to mattresses purchased directly from Cozy Pure because the Organic Mattress Store is not a member here).

I believe I am headed toward a 6 inch (would a 6/2 be better…many come with that configuration) medium Dunlop with a quality 3-4 inch softer topper in either Dunlop of talalay.

Any additional advice before the Friday trip would be greatly appreciated.

You are certainly looking at some high quality choices. The best advice I can provide is to make sure you test very carefully and objectively so that the mattress you choose is suitable for your needs and preferences and has the best possible PPP (Pressure relief, Posture and alignment, and Personal preferences). When it comes time to make your final choice then I would make meaningful comparisons between mattresses and options and services offered by each merchant and then choose the one that you believe is the best value according to the parts of your own personal value equation that are most important to you.
