I am looking for a hybrid latex mattress medium firm for less that 1200 in Toronto. I am a side sleeper 178lbs and 5’9" and my wife is also also a side sleeper with 5’2" and 95 lbs.
Currely I have the NSC medical pressure balance from costco in mind.
4inch dunlop latex with 75kg/m3 and 7.5 inch foam with 2lb density
Welcome to the TMU Forum ! Thanks for your question.
Congrats on your new mattress shopping journey, tanmayk ! Thanks for giving details of both you and your wife’s personal statistics and sleep positions, those are helpful for better determining what materials and constructions may be more suitable for your comfort and support needs. I have a few questions for you now: what brand mattress/ what type mattress are you currently using and how old is it? What are some of the qualities that you like about your current mattress? What qualities are on your “wish list” for your new mattress? Also, what size mattress are you planning for with your current budget?

From Costco’s CA site, the specs listed describe:
Top layer: 4" patented pressure balance organic latex
Bottom layer: 7.5" Soy Medi-Foam base
Mattress comfort scale: medium firm
ECO Institute certified for 100% natural latex
CertiPUR-US® certified soy foam
Organic cotton cover manufactured in a GOTS certified facility in Canada
I couldn’t find the density details you cite above; were those provided at a Costco location? As long as you can verify that the support core density is in the 2 lb range or higher, you should be good to go in terms of durability and quality.
