Looking for a mattress, in Tucson

I have just started looking for a replacement mattress in Tucson and would like some recommendations on stores to visit.

Our existing mattress is sagging and hurting my back. I think it is the mattress that is sagging, and not the box springs, but have not yet checked. Mattress is about 8 yr old; box set is about 4 yr old.

I am 6’ 0", 255 lb. I have SI joint pain that is exacerbated by the sagging part of the bed. I am a side sleeper and tend to sleep near the edge of the bed. I also have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine. I have usually liked “luxury firm” mattresses. I do not like pillow-tops.

I have always slept on innerspring mattresses and would like to evaluate alternatives. I would like to see what a latex mattress might feel like, but have not yet found a store that has a bed on display.

I visited Brooklyn Bedding and MattressFirm today for an initial look at mattresses. I was surprised that all the floor models but one at BB had coils. I found the one memory foam mattress to be a possibility. I latter visited MF and found nothing of interest there. I did confirm my loathing of Temperpedic mattresses, which I have had the misfortune to sleep on a few times. Neither store had latex mattresses.

So are there any stores that would be worth checking out?

Hi Seeker4.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

Sorry to hear of the current state of your sleep and pain on your current mattress. Springs are less likely to sag/sink so you’re probably right that the foam has broken down over time.

I know you mentioned you’re in Tucson but we very highly recommend Arizona Premium Mattress in Phoenix and Sleep EZ in Tempe. Both specialize in latex and are experts in the mattress world and would be able to give you wonderful guidance!
