Looking for a mattress protector for new DLX hybrid

Hey everyone new here, and very glad I found this site. After dealing with all the big mattress showrooms and lying on so many mattresses, and reading reviews I decided to get an upgrade to my 15 year old Tempur-Pedic which I have not had a good relationship with since day 1. After reading through the forums and articles here I contacted DLX and ordered their premier hybrid medium yesterday and am really excited to give it a try. Now I would love to find a great mattress protector to help protect this investment. We have 3 dogs so need something that has water resistance/water proof. Also looking for something that won’t break the bank, because my gf and I are students and don’t have any income right now. Was hoping there may be some recommendations that would suit our needs. Thank you!

Hi, rrindone,

Congratulations on you new mattress, it is a fantastic choice and that is speaking from personal experience as I purchased one earlier this year for a family member who had specific needs and it has worked out fantastically.

Insofar as your mattress protector. Mattress protectors can effect the feel of the mattress slightly, but it is an important option when purchasing a new mattress.

When selecting a mattress protector, it’s crucial to consider several factors to ensure it meets your needs. First, as you have done, selecting a waterproof verses water-resistant protection based your family with the dogs. You certainly do not want any accidents damaging the mattress. You can choose materials like cotton, or bamboo-derived fabrics that enhance comfort and breathability while also being hypoallergenic if allergies are a concern. Look for a protector that allows air circulation to maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature and is easy to clean, ideally machine washable. Most waterproof protectors have a membrane on the underside of the cover. Ensure it fits securely on your mattress without shifting, and check for noiseless options if you prefer a quieter sleep environment. Finally, consider warranty coverage and durability to ensure long-lasting protection and satisfaction with your purchase. There are some protectors that actually warranty your mattress should it become damaged by a spill.

Several options from Malouf, Brooklyn Bedding, Bedrooms and more, @Foam_Sweet_Foam, @Shepherds_Dream and @TheCleanBedroom have several water proof protectors in various forms

I have a Terrycloth exterior on mine, but you may find that cotton and wool may offer a more breathable solution. You typically can find premium ones for under $200 and most between 75-150. It may seem like a bit of an expense initially, but consider the alternative if an accident should happen.

There are some that come smooth and others quilted, the skirt should fit snug and not shift.

Use your new mattress in the best of health. Additionally, dont be surprised if you sleep differently for the first week or two. Your body may simply be adjusting to the new mattress, or it is a sign you may need different pillows to finish the sleep system off. I am a bit of a pillow enthusiast, and as you can see here, I continually look to tweak and improve upon my pillow collection.

Hi rrindone,
Here’s a link to our mattress protector page, and the waterproof ones are at the top. Would highly recommend the Naturepedic protector which is on sale now and offers great protection without being ‘crinkly’. Best of luck! Let us know if we can help or if you have questions.
