Hi everyone!
I’ve been lurking on here for awhile now and finally decided to create a profile. Like the title says, I am on the hunt for a new mattress again. I had been sleeping on a Simmons hard mattress for as long as I can remember so it is probably pretty soft now. I did some research on reddit initially and thought the Bear Hybrid would be perfect for me. It turns out I hate it more than sleeping on the floor (which I have been doing until they can come pick this thing up). The memory foam/the sheets it came with are incredibly hot and I hate the sinking feeling. It is like a bag of mashed potatoes. I am 6’ 4" 185-190lb mostly side sleeper, but I occasionally sleep on my stomach or back and I sleep pretty hot. The Bear Hybrid feels like it has a depression where I sleep after 90 days! Customer service with them has been pretty good, so I may just not be a fan of their products. After that experience, I think I need something firmer, something cooler and something that is going to last a long time. This has led me to latex and to SleepEZ. I figure I spend 1/3 of my life on a mattress, so price isn’t too much of an option, though anything over $2000 stings a little. I am strongly considering going with all organic including 100% organic cotton sheets for health and temperature regulation. I am curious what people could recommend to me in general, but also specifically about latex firmness, layer order, and stack height (thickness). I see that if I put my weight in for a SleepEZ organic at 185, it recommends soft (talalay) > medium (dunlop) > firm (dunlop). But if I put my weight in at 190, it recommends medium (talalay) > medium (dunlop) > firm (dunlop). I don’t have much experience with latex mattresses, but I am drawn to them for their durability, cooling properties and firmness. I think three layers would be better than two, but I am not sure if there would be any difference between 9" and 10" or even going four layers. With this, I am also not sure what firmness levels my layers should be. Everything I have read so far on this forum has been very helpful, so I am really excited to see what you all have to say on this topic. Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks in advance!
