Looking for green/non-toxic mattress for my kids

Looking for (2) x twin xl mattresses for a bunkbed for a 3yo and a 7yo. Would like to stay under $700 per mattress if possible. Any good non-toxic mattresses that are high quality and comfortable at this price point?

thanks!

Hi Jaehoppa,

While the $700 price point can make it a bit challenging to find a truly high-end mattress, there are definitely some solid non-toxic options out there, especially with the firmness necessary for kids. You might want to check with @Arizona_Premium or @Sleep_EZ to see if they can craft something that fits your budget and your needs, as they are experts in latex mattresses.

It’s worth noting that non-toxic doesn’t necessarily mean the mattress has to be organic. Non-toxic typically means the materials used are free from harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, flame retardants, and VOCs. That said, many parents today do lean toward organic options, which take it a step further by using certified organic materials like cotton, wool, or latex. Eco-friendly mattresses focus more on the environmental impact of the materials and manufacturing, and while they’re often non-toxic, it’s not guaranteed, so it’s always good to check certifications and materials closely.

Also keep in mind that with bunk beds, mattress height can be a safety consideration, especially for the top bunk. Many manufacturers recommend a lower-profile mattress (usually under 8 inches thick) to ensure guardrails are still effective, so that’s something to double-check with whatever model you end up considering.

You may want to consider @My_Green_Mattress and their eco kids mattress meets all your requirements and is within the budget. Also the @TheCleanBedroom has the naturepedic 2 in 1 eco cotton and seems to be on promotion right now and meets all your specifications and within the budget. There are some non toxic, non organic mattresses such as the brooklyn bedding kids mattress, and avocado makes an organic kids too.

It is better to stick with a firmer-leaning mattress for the kids, though most mattresses designed for kids already tend to be on the firmer side.

This will give you a bit of a head start as you have come to right place for your mattress needs.

Most bunk beds are in Twin size, not TwinXL but we have a budget friendly all latex for kids bed - Latex Beds for Kids, Eco Sleep Hybrid Latex / Coil Mattress, Latex Mattresses-Talalay and Dunlop, All Products I used these for my kids and chose Soft because it’s an adult soft.

On our Pure Eco kids mattress we have it set to an everyday lowered price, we do not have discounts for this model. Our other models do run discounts, but they are at higher price points and also not recommended for bunk beds as they use thicker padding and are taller mattresses.

what type of cover do you recommend for a 6 inch (3+3inch) latex mattress? something that feels good to lay on and not take away the feel of latex. I might need a waterproof cover for one of the mattresses so please recommend 2 different types of covers. Thank you.
