I am looking for recommendations for a new mattress.
I’m 5’. 150 lbs, 70 year old female, a back sleeper, need temp regulation, pressure relief for shoulder and lower back pain.
I am looking for a soft top layer. According to what I’m reading, an innerspring hybrid has less foam resulting in better airflow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Marcia
Well, hello there @Mar07cia
How’s my retired CIA operative? hahaha
I think you’re on the right track, and will just add a few thoughts for you to consider:
- pocketed coil springs provide a level of adaptive and conforming support that other types of springs can’t match.
- a pocketed coil innerspring facilitates airflow at far greater levels than all-foam mattresses
- spring units tend to cost less than high-quality foams, and so hybrid mattresses are typically less expensive than comparable foam mattresses
I think a toxin-free hybrid mattress, made with organic cotton, wool and latex over a pocketed coil innerspring, would be a great option for you. For a top soft layer, a plush talalay latex layer would do the trick nicely, eliminating pressure points for your shoulders while providing buoyant support for your lower back.
