Looking for soft latex topper

I am a 230 lbs side sleeper with back problems and impaired spine muscle tone.
I currently use an old 11" Simmons Comforpedic mattress with 2" memory foam comfort layer.
I feel fine with the support level of the mattress, however, the memory foam layer was always too “sinky” for me, and over time it got almost forced trough, so I started experiencing more back and muscle pain during sleep.
I plan to replace the memory foam comfort layer with the latex topper, and I’m looking at 1" Soft (20 IDL) Dunlop latex topper from the member of this website, Sleep On Latex: Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper | SleepOnLatex.com.
I’ve read on this website that Dunlop latex is used mostly for the support layers, vs Talalay, which is mostly used for the comfort ones.
However, Sleep On Latex call this topper “Soft”, so I’d kindly appreciate an advise on would the 20 IDL Dunlop latex topper be soft enough for a comfort layer.

Hello Anotoly

Thank you kindly for your inquiry.

Dunlop latex is indeed a heavier, denser and therefore firmer latex than that of the Talalay when comparing ‘apples to apples’. For example, a soft Dunlop layer is going to feel a bit firmer than a soft Talalay layer of similar density ratings. Although Dunlop is a firmer latex in general, just like Talalay it is produced in densities ranging from extra soft to extra firm.
I do not work in the medical field, and therefore based on your back issues, I recommend that you consult with your doctor prior to selecting any components that can possibly affect your back in any way.
Thank you again, and best of luck to you!
