Has anyone bought I loom and leaf firm recently? I am allergic to latex and don’t want a bed in a box. Would love to hear reviews of loom and leaf
Loom and Leaf is Saatva’s version of an all memory foam mattress. They say they use 5lb memory foam, but do not specify if it is all memory foam layers, or what their support layer specs are. Actually, I had trouble finding the specs.
Perhaps they might release them if probed. If you are looking for a memory foam mattress of significant quality that rivals that of older tempurpedic foam density, you might want to take a peek at TempFlow.
They initially were created to offer a better version of what TP had to offer, with more creative ways to channel the heat to keep sleepers from overheating in the mattress. They remain true to that mission today, so it may be worth a look.
While I am not certain what the aversion to a bed in a box might be, there are plenty of opportunities there that are not latex, and quality that rival many of the non BiB brands.
When someone says they don’t want a bed in a box, it usually calls for an explanation. This preference might stem from personal taste or concerns about mattress quality.
It also depends on the specific mattresses you’re considering. Since the 2000s, many of the popular S brands, often referred to as legacy brands, have faced criticism for their quality, transparency, and overall construction. These brands, which are typically not bed-in-a-box options, have received mixed reviews from customers, suggesting they might not be the best choice.

I am currently inquiring about loom and leaf. Bed in a box with no room for it to inflate for 24 hours is a hassle Thanks
Understood, as I was going to add, some mattresses are not too heavy to be compressed, rolled, and shipped in a box; however, once they exceed the weight limits set by shipping companies, the costs become impractical. Although they follow a bed-in-a-box design, they need to be shipped without compressing as the shipping companies’ weight thresholds make this method cost-effective only for lighter mattresses.
If your reasoning is concerning inflation and space, the above is a moot point.
Best of luck on getting the info on the L&L. You may want to do a shout out on reddit r/mattress or r/mattressmod, you may get some answers there.
I get it you don’t like mainstream brands. I will head to Reddit. Thank you
At TMU, our primary focus is on transparency regarding mattress materials, construction, and other critical details. This commitment to openness is intended to help consumers make well-informed decisions.
We want to clarify that there is no inherent bias against mainstream brands or any specific category of mattresses. Instead, our goal is to ensure that consumers have access to clear and honest information about all products.
For example, Shifman is a well-known mainstream brand that provides detailed information about their materials and spring gauges. This level of transparency is something we value and encourage across all brands. If a brand does not disclose such information, it prompts us to investigate further to understand why and to provide consumers with the most accurate insights possible.
We understand that discussions on platforms like Reddit often mention brands like Saatva. It might be helpful to seek out those conversations to gather more personal experiences and reviews about specific mattresses.
I hope this clarifies our approach and assists you in finding the information you need.
All the best and hopefully some online reviews or posts/discussions on reddit and anyone here at TMU who may have purchased a L&L can chime in.
