I am interested in the LuuF mattress (formerly known as the Luft mattress): luufbeds.com. The company makes two kinds of adult hybrid mattresses plus a child’s mattress. I don’t see any mention of it on your site, though there are some good reviews of it elsewhere. Still, I don’t know how it stacks up with other comparable mattresses. Is there anything you can tell me about the mattress along those lines or about the company?

LuuF mattresses are bed in a box offerings from Symbol Mattress located in Watertown Wisconsin. Symbol manufactures several series of mattresses under their own name, as well as OEM builds of other BIAB brands including Bear, WinkBeds and Northern Nights (sold on QVC). I don’t have any personal experience with Symbol Mattress but thought this information might be helpful in your research of the company.

Thanks for the tip about other mattresses out there besides LuuF that are made by Symbol Mattress. Besides LuuF, only WinkBeds acknowledges that its hybrid bed is made in Watertown Wisconsin. In fact, its site talks about “our factory” and no “middleman” as if it were the manufacturer, which it may be.

Each mattress is different. They all seem to use at least some different materials, and there are even variations in basic construction. The WinkBed, for example, has an additional set of coils in the comfort layer.

The WinkBed seems to be a more luxurious (and pricier) bed than the LuuF, but I can’t tell how much the differences matter. I wish I could find a head-to-head comparison of them.

For what it’s worth, their sites seem to indicate that you can try them both out at some SleePare Showrooms around the country.

I didn’t intend any implication that the various mattresses being built by Symbol Mattress for other companies were identical to their own. Such OEM arrangements are typically to build products to the company’s own specifications, and with BIAB mattresses the builder even handles packing and drop shipment directly to the buyer. You will sometimes see similarities in construction but OEM builds can be entirely different than that of the manufacturer’s own products.
