Hi, so glad I found your site. My story is I bought an expensive (3400.00+) latex Natures Rest about 7 years ago and it was an awful mattress that I kept too long to try to get some of my money’s worth. Apparently the company went bankrupt and the warranty was void. Even though the store where I purchased it was very good about it and offered me a discount on a new mattress I decided to shop around. I was considering a TempurPedic Breeze, Sealy Optimum vibrant, Serta Cool Elegance Plush and a latex PranaSleep but after reading your site I decided to look for a local manufacturer and I found The Mattress Maker in Brockton, MA. I’m buying a full latex mattress from this store, They were knowledgable, the store had many mattress on the floor to try, plus they will show you where they make the matteresses, they will help you pick the cover you want and how you want it built. It’s a really great store! I have also found out that a friend of mine bought a mattress at this store several years ago and they feel its the best one they have owned. Very happy with the store and their purchase. One of the things I really like is they have a comfort guarantee where they will change the inside of your mattress if your not happy for free within 90 days plus later on if there is a problem. All these other mainstream stores have you return a mattress an get another - where are all those returned mattress going? No wonder why they are overpriced in the large stores! Oh and the price of this mattress was much less then any of the above ones I mentioned and the quality of this mattress in my opinion, is much greater. Thank you for have this web site with so much information!
Hi patC,
Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback about The Mattress Maker and you are not the first forum member who was impressed with their quality, value, and service.
That’s a very good question and for the most part they are certainly not being thrown away. They will usually end being sold without a warranty at liquidation outlets or clearance outlets or sold as “scratch and dents” or “overstocks” or “last years models” or using other terminology that doesn’t indicate or tries to “hide” that they are used mattresses.
Most importantly though … congratulations on your new mattress
I think you did well and I’m looking forward to any further updates you are willing to share over time.
