Have new latex 3 layer mattress on adjustable frame. I have no problem sleeping. So far we have tried a 2 different layer positions, can’t decide which I like the most for sleeping, but so far that’s not the problem.
But an adjustable bed is made to be in different positions for various activities - watching TV and being on my iPad are 2.
So far, the mattress I gave away and now this new one both have given me the same problem. In an upright position, the cover bunches and really is uncomfortable on the back region. I don’t have a mattress pad on it. It’s 9" latex S-M-M and 1" organic cotton quilted cover. I’m being sent a replacement stretch cover so that should help. But what else should I do? Should I have another layer? It just doesn’t ‘fill in’ my back either which would give me the support I’m craving for using the adjustable feature of my bed.
Some degree of bunching with a quilted cover on an adjustable is unavoidable and there really isn’t anything you can do although the stretch cover will help because it’s more flexible and thinner.
A mattress isn’t designed for use in a sitting position and your weight distribution is different when you are sitting compared to lying down so gravity doesn’t “pull you in” to the mattress in the same way as when you are lying down so a mattress won’t contour to the shape of your body as well when you are sitting. You could try adding a thin pillow or a lumbar pillow in the small of your back when you are using the adjustable in an upright position.
