I have a diy build:
6" blended talalay core (split king), 3" medium talalay king, and 3" soft talalay king. For 12" total
I originally ordered a mattress cover same place I ordered the core and was sent one too small (72 x 76) so I had to send it back. As a same day solution I got a zip off top mattress encasement but it made it too firm.
It was much softer without the encasement so I ordered a Wyoming king encasement to ensure it wouldn’t fit too tight or make it too firm
Turned out to be an absolute pain to put the layers in because it only zips around halfway in the middle rather than being zip off top or 360. The layers have already shifted. Plus it’s terry cloth and I dislike the texture
I started looking at mattress covers again but my partner insisted we measure all the layers before buying because the two toppers look slightly bigger than the core pieces. Turns out both toppers are slightly bigger than a traditional King size at 78" x 81.5" - 82" so I’m worried no matter what mattress cover I order, I’ll end up with the ‘too tight making it too firm’ issue all over again. I absolutely don’t want to try cutting the latex to even it out, feels like it’d be butchered that way.
A reddit post suggested sleeponlatex said their topper cover went up to 12" and wasn’t as snug, easy returns. I don’t want to keep ordering things that aren’t gonna work though
Any product suggestions for a King mattress cover (when the latex is slightly oversized)?
