Mattress for an adjustable bed

We have an adjustable base and a latex mattress that’s 9 or 10 years old. We love the adjustable bed (Leggett and Platt) but think we need to replace the mattress.
We did a bit of shopping and couldn’t find an all-latex mattress anywhere. Anyone know why?
We were told that most mattresses these days will be fine with an adjustable bed, but I’m skeptical. For one thing most are much thicker than the one we have now, and not nearly as flexible,

So what do you all think we should buy?

BTW, the bed is used with the head and foot raised for 1-2 hours every afternoon.

Hi Maggie,

Many of the larger mattress retailers choose to sell models from the well known and heavily advertised major manufacturers rather than carry latex mattresses. TMU Trusted Members are mostly smaller companies who are more focused on providing high quality and value to their customers. If you go through the linked list and look over their detail pages and websites you’ll find at least a dozen that offer latex mattresses. They are generally available to be shipped, some require assembly of the latex layers in the encasement, and the companies have a lot of experience in choosing the proper configuration to meet specific needs of each customer. Since you already have positive experience with a full latex mattress and seem to appreciate many of its benefits there is no reason not to get another as a replacement. Latex is the most durable of all comfort materials used in mattress manufacturing along with providing great support, and is more flexible than hybrid pocketed coil designs as you’ve also noted.

Hope that helps and good luck with your new mattress selection!

Bill, thank you for your response. It’s good to know that latex mattresses are still available.
However, I would want to try out any mattress I was considering, actually lie down on it for at least a few minutes.
We did visit a local department store last week and lay down on a few of them. (They had no latex). They all felt different than than our present latex one, quite different, firmer maybe, hard to describe the difference. They were all very thick, compared to our latex one, which is about 8".
We checked with the two mattress stores in our area and they have no latex.
So I don’t know what we’re going to do.
