Mattress for bigger person

Looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced mattress for a family member who weighs around 325 and is a side and back sleeper. Prefers a softer “feel” but needs to be easy to get in and out of the bed. Lives in a warmer area so heat trapping isn’t good. Thank you!!!

Hi kalatraza, and welcome to The Mattress Underground
Glad to have you here.

A mattress is unique to the person sleeping on it, based on PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) and the sleepers’ stats (Height, BMI, sleeping position(s) and any underlying health conditions. Good job on including some of the stats – the weight and sleeping position – but the other stats are just as important in finding a mattress.

You may want to start by reviewing our mattress specifications you need to know, as well as the Mattress Durability Guidelines to get a better idea of what to look for in a mattress, and we have a
Mattress Shopping Tutorial for both what to look for and avoid when mattress shopping.

While we don’t make specific recommendations for mattresses, as it’s impossible to know what might be best suited for your family member, you can review the Trusted members of the site and take a look at their offerings – these all offer excellent quality, transparency in construction and material of components, and good customer service. You do mention your family member looking for a softer feel mattress, and that they are in a warmer area, so they might be looking at a plush to medium firm mattress, and one with a breathable or temperature regulating layer like latex or a wool/coir component.

If you do find specific mattresses that are of interest, we certainly can make some general comments on them as well.

Hope this helps,

Basilio
