Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone here has had problems with a Novilla mattress. I’ve had mine for almost 3 years, and I haven’t been feeling well at all during that time — waking up with facial swelling, fatigue, and just generally feeling off. I recently cut into the mattress and found orange glue inside, and the smell gets even worse when I open a window.
Novilla claims their mattresses are certified, but when I checked the actual certification websites, I couldn’t find them listed — which makes me seriously question their claims.
Has anyone else experienced health issues or noticed strong chemical smells from this brand? I’m trying to figure out if this mattress could be the source of my symptoms.
Any input or shared experiences would mean a lot. Thanks in advance.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, that sounds incredibly frustrating, and I’m really sorry you’ve been dealing with all of that.
While I don’t have direct experience with Novilla, you’re right to trust your instincts when something feels off. Facial swelling, fatigue, and worsening symptoms when the mattress is disturbed or exposed to airflow definitely raise red flags. The fact that the smell intensifies when you open a window suggests there could be off-gassing happening…possibly from adhesives or foams that aren’t as low-VOC or “certified safe” as claimed.
You also did the right thing by double-checking certifications. Unfortunately, some companies misuse or misrepresent these labels, and if you can’t find Novilla listed on the actual certification databases (like CertiPUR-US or OEKO-TEX), that’s definitely concerning.
If others here have had similar experiences, I hope they’ll chime in and if you’re seriously questioning your health around this mattress, it may be worth trying a temporary sleep setup (like an air mattress or different bed) to see if your symptoms improve. Keep us posted on what you find - wishing you answers and relief soon.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your insights. It’s been a frustrating journey, and hearing your perspective gives me a bit more confidence in trusting my instincts.
I’m starting to believe that the off-gassing is definitely playing a role, especially given the symptoms that seem to worsen with airflow and when the mattress is disturbed. The smell has been a consistent issue, and after checking the certifications, I’m even more concerned about what might be lurking in the materials.
I think you’re absolutely right about exploring alternative sleep setups temporarily. I’m considering using an air mattress for a few nights to see if there’s any noticeable improvement in my symptoms. I’ll keep everyone posted as I continue to investigate this—thank you again for the support and guidance!
Dani!
