There is more about the pros and cons of different types of mattress protectors in post #89 here and it also has a link to more information about mattress encasements as well.
Although I’m not familiar with it personally … the one you linked would be very similar to other thin “membrane type” encasements that use a polyester fabric with a semi-breathable waterproof membrane.
