I’m wondering if all the review sites I followed six months ago have been bought out in the last month or so. The web sights seem to have changed.
It’s been pretty widely publicized that ‘Sleepopolis’ was bought out by Casper and it’s even now noted on the site. Not sure what other review sites you may be referring to.
Hi earlds,
I’m not sure what web sites you might be following, so I couldn’t comment upon that. It is common for sites to change their look, so that doesn’t necessarily mean that there has been a change in ownership. However, I do predict (as do some of the other well-respected people within the industry) that you will see in the future more mattress companies creating or purchasing their own “review” sites.
Hi Sweet Dreams,
Sleepopolis was purchased by JAKK Media LLC, through funding from Casper.

Phoenix - Thanks for the correction to my previous post! I found an article with additional details which reveals that JAKK Media also owns mattressclarity.com and slumbersage.com. This further brings into question any remaining credibility or value of such ‘review’ sites.
Note: I believe providing the article link above is within the specified forum rules which I checked, but if it violates any rules or you deem it as inappropriate please accept my apologies and feel free to remove it.
I knew about Casper and sleepopolis.com. By the way in my mattress research I followed all review sites, there are only 8 or ten real people sites and many bot sites and vague pointless sites. I suspect that all the review sites are now controled by corporations , even the Sleep Sherpa. I hope these folks made a good profit selling their sites.
Hi Sweet Dreams,
No worries. However, I did remove the link to the article in your post, as I don’t find the article or web site quite objective in reporting. A better source, which I’ve linked to previously, would be this article.

Hi earlds,
There are certainly more sites than you mentioned run by individuals, but I will agree with you that many are pointless and “bot sites” as you mentioned, culling information from the internet and then attempting to make money on redirects or their own advertising.
That’s not at all the case. Although, as I mentioned in my previous post, I think you will see more direct involvement by mattress manufacturers in “review” site ownership in the future.
