Appreciate the help in advance, but looking for proper next steps or thoughts on helping parents get a new mattress (will probably call a trusted member or 2 to get some thoughts).
Location: South Florida
Mother went to CityMattress and tried a mixture of items to get an idea of construction & firmness. Couple items we tried and feedback:
- Aireloom M2(+) Plush. Can’t deduce much construction info beyond pocket coils + comfort layer of some foams & microcoils. Enjoyed the plushness & pillowtop comfort. Caused some lower back pain after 5-10m while side sleeping. The 2+ was a bit too lacking in support causing too much droop in hips.
- PranaSleep (many). Even for me their plush/medium/cush just…weren’t. I can’t find ILD info here. The Guru provided a solid mix of support and wasn’t causing hip pain. Overall it seems like full latex provided some relief from the hybrid support cores, but can’t tell if that was just a fluke of the mattresses we tried.
Other than dragging them to another store…I’m not sure how to assist them best here. My only thought was maybe Naturepedic just to have another try and a known sum hybrid design?
Mother:
- ~170lb female 60s
- used to be a side sleeper but hip/back and shoulder pain has pushed to back sleeping. Would prefer side, but hasn’t been able to get comfortable/remove pain (previous back surgery, shoulder injuries)
- Even on her back, seems to prefer a more ‘plush’ medium experience
- Likes the edge support of hybrids, but may be any to shift out of this for the right latex
- Sleeps hot
Father:
- ~205 male 60s
- side sleeper
- Tremendous hit/back & shoulder pain from previous issues so looking for relief
- I place him more in a medium/soft
- Finds my BB #BestMattressEver Medium too firm. This is the OG 2" Tala, 2" Dunlop + Poly, but I don’t know the ILDs to compare…
- disinterested in any of this and will be impossible to get feedback unless it sucks…great I know…
Originally had them looking at MyGreenMattress, but given the more medium → medium soft feedback, I feel like that will be too firm. Been digging through alternatives, with standouts being SleepEZ and doing a mix all latex design that can give that plushness & support while relieving their pain…
Not sure if a normal 3" comfort layer on a hybrid before coils will be enough. That’s my main concern when it comes to the standard 6-8" coils + 3" comfort layer.
