Mattress similar to the Beautyrest Harmony Cypress Bay Plush?

Be careful when walking on the mattress. Doing so can help break it in and reduce some of the initial firmness or stiffness of the new materials, similar to breaking in a new pair of shoes. While walking on the mattress won’t damage it, the concentrated weight in one area can potentially harm box springs or bed frames. When you walk on the mattress, it’s best to place it directly on the floor.

Keep in mind that it’s highly unusual for any mattress, even those using lower-density foams, to develop a divot after just 30 days. This might only happen with mattresses made entirely of polyester fiber, which, according to online specifications, is not the case with Beautyrest mattresses that use foam. However, what’s underneath the mattress, such as an old spring, could impact its performance, depending on the type. Even something as simple as a bed frame leg not touching the floor could be causing these issues. Keep in mind that old bed frames and box springs might appear flat and level, but once the mattress and user’s weight are added, they may not provide adequate support. While this isn’t always the case, we estimate that it’s the culprit about 50% of the time so it’s worth investigating.

For most people, the spring unit is the firmest part of the mattress, even with lower-gauge wire. If you have the BB Aurora Lux without the cloud pillowtop, there’s less padding between you and the firm, supportive coil unit compared to the Beautyrest. Although Beautyrest’s specs aren’t listed online, we estimate it has about 6" to 7" of foam padding above the coil unit, based on the overall mattress height. Therefore, the Beautyest should provide a softer, more enveloping feel than the BB.

As for a topper, they can sometimes be perceived as a band-aid solution. However, companies like Hästens, Duxiana, and many others build entire mattress systems around toppers. Our advice is not to worry about it feeling like a band-aid. If a topper makes the mattress comfortable and you like the feel—regardless of any concerns about sleeping on a topper—then it’s the right solution.

If the BB doesn’t work out, please consult with us if you’re considering a DLX. The Premier Hybrid - Soft might be an option to consider, but we want to ensure it’s soft enough and properly supported.Hopefully, BB can make the mattress comfortable and the topper turns out to be a solid fix. Fingers crossed it works like a charm.
