Memory Foam / Latex Matresses in Italy

We currently have a DreamFoam Ultimate Dreams Eurotop and really like it. We are moving to Italy for two years for my job and likely won’t be bring a sea container so we’d like to be able to buy that mattress or something similar in Italy.

Are there companies that are recommended there? We went with an 8 on the Latex for this mattress so on the softer side.

Hi JMSFCA,

Congratulations on the job move – enjoy Italy.

I don’t have a list of retailers in Italy, as the focus of this site is on the United States and Canada. You will find may foam options in Italy, so your best bet would be to approximate as best you can what you currently have. I know that longevity isn’t as much of an issue, but you’ll still want to sleep well. Testing out items in person will of course be your best course of action, but I can help a bit with the specifications.

The Dreamfoam Ultimate Dreams Eurotop uses an 8" polyfoam core that’s 2 lb density. On top of that is 3" of Talalay latex, and then 1.5" of plush polyfoam is quilted to the covering. Density here is in lb/ft3, and in Europe it is often expressed in kg/m3. So a 2 lb polyfoam core would be approximately 32 kg/m3. I don’t know the ILD of the polyfoam base used in your mattress, but it would generally be firm, possibly in the mid 30s. Another difference in Italy is that you may see the firmness of the foams expresses in kPa (kilo-Pascal). 3.5 kPa is generally considered soft. 4.0 kPa is medium and 4.5 kPa is firm. Your mattress is an 8 on the 1-10 scale that Dreamfoam uses (1 is hard, 10 is soft), so your Talalay layer is probably in the low 20s ILD. Hopefully this isn’t too complicated, but I’m only providing this information as a reference point when you go out and shop.

Purchasing something locally is probably your best option, as the mattress sizes are different in Europe than the US, so unless you were bringing over your bed set and all of your sheets, it would be easier just to stick to the European standards.
