Memory foam mattress with adjustable base in Myrtle Beach, SC area

Hi I just saw a video where the guy said that the only type of mattress you should put on an adjustable base is 100% natural latex. He said polyfoam will not last & will become too soft. Can I ask what your take on this is?‘’. I definitely want an adjustable base on some form of latex or memory foam

Hi 64diver,

(I moved your post back to your original thread. It helps to keep things organized not only for you but also for anyone else if you keep your posts together in the thread to which they refer.)

You certainly have many options for mattresses to place upon an adjustable bed base, but in general what is most durable on a flat foundation will also be the most durable when placed upon an adjustable bed base.

Latex (in any blend) is certainly the most durable foam, and it tends to best put up with the specific demands and weight concentrations placed upon it when being used in a power foundation environment. “Traditional” memory foam mattresses will use a polyfoam support core, and a higher density material will better put up with bending and concentrated mass in your “seat” area. While many innerspring mattresses are now made to be “adjustable bed friendly”, this is the category where I would advise the most caution, as many of these products (especially the larger “S” brands) tend to use lower quality foams in the upholstery and quilt layers to begin with, and then by placing extra stress and weight concentrations upon these foam layers in an adjustable bed, you’re shortening the already minimal comfort life on these mattresses. Depending upon the construction of these mattress, there can also be issues with the joining of the innerspring unit to the edge reinforcement system, the edge reinforcement system itself, or the securing of any quilt or innerpanel to the innerspring support unit complex.

Like any purchase, I would follow the guidelines I’ve already outlined for you in my previous replies and objectively learn about the foam layers within any mattress you are considering and only consider items that meet the minimum quality guidelines, and realize that you may wish to consider products (in the polyfoam and memory foam category) that use higher density componentry to help put up with the unique stresses from being used on any adjustable bed base.
