Anyone with experience with either of these places would be greatly appreciated. It is so hard to find actual reviews besides whats on their websites.
Ive been debating between these two. Latex seems like something I would like. Im a stomach sleeper that needs something not too firm as Im fairly boney in my arms and they can go numb if the mattress is too firm. Obasan’s customization seems like a perfect solution to this, but its about 3000 more than the presto for Obasan’s classic, but I guess the essential is comparable to the presto.
Any reviews for either would be great, especially longevity. Im not looking to replace the mattress in under 10 years hopefully. Thank you!l

Good Morning Atomique,
Welcome to TMU and thanks for participating in the forum. Our Presto organic latex mattress is made of the same certified materials as the Obasan. Our organic dunlop latex is certified GOLS and the organic cotton that we use in the Presto is certified GOTS.
For the wool, we use Joma wool and they use organic wool.
We choose Joma Wool because is produced through a special crimping process that increases the frequency of the bends or waves along the length of the wool fibres to provide 40-50 percent more volume and improved resilience in the face of continuous use. New Zealand sheep are well known for having the whitest, strongest and cleanest wool, so by sourcing our natural wool fibres from these sheep, we are able to create bedding products that deliver best-of-breed comfort and support night after night.
All our wool is certified under the OEKO-TEX standard 100 . As the worldwide leader in harmful substance testing, OEKO-TEX certification ensures all our wool is safe to sleep on night after night. The certification covers pesticides, chlorinated phenols, heavy metals, formaldehyde and hundreds of other known and potentially harmful substances. It even ensures the wool has a balanced pH level for optimal skin health.
The 2 mattresses are both 10" thick and offer their own customization options.
As for other reviews that on their website, have you looked at their Google reviews?
Here are the reviews for MFC and here are those for Obasan . You can also check on Reddit.
I hope this helps you make an educated decision and please get back to us once you buy the mattress that meets your needs.
All the best
Mario
Hi Atomique,
Welcome to the Mattress Underground!
We appreciate your interest in Obasan - like the Presto, it is made from high-quality, all organic materials that are durable and comfortable.
The customization of firmness for head and shoulders, hip and back, and legs is one of the excellent features of the Obasan - and as with the Presto, you can tweak it after purchase if needed. However, you are correct in assessing that you do pay a higher price for such customization of each zone.
If you don’t want the customized zones that Obasan offers, there are lower-priced latex options. Our Healthy Choice mattresses offer several configurations and thicknesses at a more modest price. Customers who wish to include Talalay can check out Savvy Rest.
Check out our reviews of our Manhattan and Portsmouth NH locations to get a feel for people’s experience. In particular, people mention the longevity of the mattresses. Our Mount Kisco location is newer, and so has fewer reviews, but still provides some useful information.
Best of luck to you in your search! Let us know if we can help.
