My Mattress shopping experience so far

Thought I would share my Mattress shopping experience so far

June 4 I had a fire in my house and had to get rid of all my mattresses (5) due to smoke, some needed to be replaced anyway and others I really didn’t need. I now have to replace 3 mattresses.
Before finding The Mattress Underground
I went to Macys to look at mattresses, they were very nice, let me look around and didn’t try to “sell” me anything.
A week later I went to the Sleepy’s, never again. We found 3 mattress we liked but I didn’t want to order them yet, I wanted to look around first. Well, talk about a hard sell. After telling the salesmen to hold onto the info and I would call him in a few days, he told me he couldn’t do that and I had to leave a deposit, I talked out for the store with my kids (19 & 13). I can’t believe it but they followed me to my car. My 19 year old got out of the car and gave the salesman an ear full. To make matters worse they end up calling me later and send me an email that they were holding the mattress for me.
Next I went back to Macys and ended up ordering 3 mattresses. We received 2 (1 had to wait until the damage to the house was fixed). One mattress was much harder than the one I tried in the store and the other was a memory foam mattresses. They told me the memory foam would not get hot, WRONG, my son was sweating in bed because of the mattress. The mattress I bought was too firm and I was waking up with my back and shoulder really hurting me, I have been sleeping on an air mattress instead. Went back to Macy’s and they are now going to pick up both mattresses and refund me in full. The salesman was helpful and worked with me on this.
Ads of next week I will once again have no mattresses in my house except for 1 air mattress. The funny thing is the air mattress is pretty comfortable and at one point I had a 3" foam topper on top and I slept pretty good but I want a “real” mattress.
After finding The Mattress Underground (I’m in NJ)
I have been to 3 different stores, not the Name Brand stores, and I’m not sure what I will end up with by the Latex sounds very interesting.
I went to Custom Bedding but the salesman there wasn’t all that helpful and the owner was not in so I couldn’t get much info.
Next I went to The Mattress Factory and looked at a Latex bed, it was a little firm and he put a thin topper on that made helped, not sure about those mattresses either
Next I went to Sleep Pros, I told the salesman I did not what Foam and he kept taking me to the foam mattresses, each time I told him I don’t want Foam he would show me foam. The last mattresses he showed me was the Latex Bliss Beautiful, I liked that but would need to spend more time testing it out. He had prices on the mattress and while I was sitting there he took the prices off and brought it into the office, not sure why he did that. The prices were very high, a King was over $5,000. I asked him the price and he said they had a sale going on 50% off and I only need the mattress so the price would be even lower $2,000 and if I come back he would work with me. I just hate when they do that, why don’t they just show you the TRUE price (no answer needed)

Anyway, I’m still looking for a mattress, not sure where I will go next but I want to make sure my sons and I get something we will be happy with. I want to look at more latex mattress, just need to find where to go. I looked at the places listed for NJ, some are a little too far but I will keep looking

Thanks for all the info you provide
