Narrowed down to Memory Foam...any feedback about Rocky Mountain Matress' Sundance 10"?

I am a back and side sleeper. RMM is a member of TMU and below is a “copy and paste” of the features of this model from the RMM website –

  • 3.3" of four pound Bayer Softcel Memory Foam
  • 3" of Bayer Ultracel Convoluted Foam
  • 3.7" of Bayer Ultracel Support Foam
  • Bayer Ultracel mid-body Lumbar Support
  • CoolMax by DuPont Smooth Cover

3 questions –
1> Are these materials “good stuff”?
2> I liked the feel of the memory foam mattresses I tested in stores. Does anyone here have any particularly negative experiences to share specific to this model?
3> Should I buy the optional wood foundation i.e. will it help or is it purely cosmetic?

Look forward to comments and feedback! Thanks,

-Jay

Hi jay_rtp,

Yes … IMO there are no obvious weak links in the mattress and they are good quality materials for their budget range. Of course quality has nothing to do with whether the mattress may be suitable for your needs and preferences so it would be important to talk with them on the phone about how suitable the mattress may be for your body type and sleeping style.

That depends on whether you already have a suitable foundation (not a box spring) or a suitable platform bed. If you already have a suitable foundation or a suitable platform bed then you won’t need one but if you don’t then you will need to add a foundation to your purchase. All mattresses need an evenly supportive base underneath them that is suitable for the mattress.
