Natural Mattress for my Toddler - for the love of all things holy please help me!

Hi!

Been searching ENDLESSLY for a matteress for my kid, 3. I want as natural as possible. I live in Canada. He is in a bunk bed so hoping for low loft- can make changes for the right mattress however. Currently looking at Avacado or Essentia - both the kids mattress (low profile). They are latex/hybrid with coils. I sleep on the bed with him too sometimes I am 150 pounds. But I’m not worried about me! There are just so many claims out there my head is spinning. Everyone says they are natural, but then they have “cooling gel layers”. That’s not natural… and then the Essentia lawsuit for false claims-- sure they have changed their claims since then (2013) but how to tell if they CURRENT claims are valid then? Avacado seems to have a good return policy too…what if my kid is allergic to latex tho? As you can see I am just driving myself in circle. Who knew buying a material without all the junk would be so hard (and expensive!!!). TIA everyone

Hey Julie, Welcome!

If you are looking for a more traditional type crib mattress to avoid the latex, take a look at Naturepedic Canada. Their 2-in-1 mattress is a good one for bunks; also, it has a waterproof side and a plusher side. The Verse is a little bit more money, but has more springs and could support more weight if you want to share with your toddler.

The quality of their materials is unquestionable - you’ll see the certifications if you visit their site.

Look for a sale to get the best price - they run sales frequently!

Best of luck to you!

Katie

Hi Katie!

Thank you! I actually did look at them, I’m looking for a twin mattress and they have a bunk sized one. However the reviews on the double-sided one say that it is incredibly stinky, I’ve looked on multiple websites and the reviews are all the same that the other mattresses are good but the two in one mattress is very stinky

That’s interesting.
I’m not saying it isn’t true, but we just have not had that particular complaint.

The Verse may meet your needs more and give more support. It’s a higher price point, but be sure and wait for a sale. Sometimes credit cards have offers where you get points back on Naturepedic also.
Good luck!!
