My wife and I recently tried a Savvy Rest with 3 layers of natural organic talalay, with firm on the bottom, medium in the middle, and soft on the top. While we weren’t 100 per cent convinced that was the only way to be comfortable, we did like it. Is there a way to order a sleepez mattress with 3 blended talalay layers and duplicate that feel, or does it have to be natural talalay? I like the durability and consistency of the blended talalay. Thanks for any advice.
Hi musteq,
Natural Talalay and Blended Talalay will be very similar with the exception that blended has a slightly lower compression modulus which means that it would compress with weight a little more and be a little more pressure relieving. They would be quite close in the same ILD though.
There would also be some difference because all natural Talalay is not as consistent in its ILD rating and it comes in slightly different firmness levels (N1 - N5 which you can see here) but you should be able to get quite close and I know that Shawn will be happy to talk to you more about this.
I should also mention that there is no such thing as organic Talalay … only organic Dunlop. There’s more about this in post #6 here.

Thanks Phoenix,
Your mattress forum has been extremely helpful, not just with this topic, but with mattress education in general. I wish it had existed 5 years ago when I purchased our disastrous Sealy spring free mattress.

Hi musteq,
Unfortunately … the old Sealy Springfree line used too much lower quality polyfoam in the upper layers and people who 'thought" they were sleeping on latex were actually sleeping on mostly polyfoam.
Even worse … the same or very similar mattresses are still being sold today under the Stearns & Foster “luxury latex” line.
Sometimes the more things change … the more they stay the same

Thanks to this forum, I am not making the same mistake twice. I just ordered a SleepEz 10000, with 3 talalay split layers, for about the same money I spent on the Sealy 5 years ago. Unfortunately for Sealy, not only have I lost faith in them, I have done my best to steer business away from them.
If they had just advertised their mattress as a polyfoam mattress, with a little latex thrown in for good measure, I would have gotten what I deserved. A regular coil mattress would have lasted longer.
ARRGH!
Hi musteq,
I think that’s one more for the “good guys” that are making better mattresses.
I know how frustrating the industry as a whole can be and when I first started thinking about this site it was amazing to me how little consumers in general really knew about the mattresses they were buying and what was worse yet was there was no way for them to really find out how to make any kind of meaningful comparisons. The information they really needed wasn’t easily available and didn’t seem to exist on the internet or elsewhere unless they knew to ignore the advertising and hype and happened to connect with one of the better manufacturers or retailers that were focused on the quality of their materials and were willing to educate their customers.
The mainstream mattress industry is one of the last holdouts where “blind” purchases are still the norm.
The good news is that you’ve made a great choice this time ,… and congratulations on your new mattress.
