Ended up purchasing a Sealy Hybrid High Point ll Soft mattress – we did not take into account that we went to a new Dutchcrafters panel bed which is 11.5 inches to the top of slates – the mattress itself is 14" thick - we thought the low foundation which is 5" thick would be OK HELP and suggestions on how we can lower this bed its way too tall — still on the 120 day trial with mattress firm so can make a change if need be or return it Thoughts> Maverick you out there - we are side sleepers

The one way to lower what you have that will offer superior support is @MattressFoundations
that has the strength of most foundations if not better.
Dutchmasters make beautiful looking products. You could simply add a slat layer if your specific panel bed is framed without mattress support slats.
The bunkie from MF is only 1.75" thick, so they take the guesswork out of doing it yourself and you will likely never need to buy a bed frame and foundation again.

The current Dutchcrafters has slats but that are pretty far apart… if I buy a bunkie do I lay it on top of the existing slats or remove the slats and let the bunkie sit on the sideboard rails? Secondly, if this going to make the hybrid mattress more firm? Will the MF unot stand up like the other one suggested? Apologies for all the questions Help!

Those existing slats are to keep the bedframe square and to rest the box foundation on, not directly for the mattress. You rest the bunkie on them and the lip around the inside of the bedframe. Just as long as there are center support legs, head to foot that should be attached to the existing slats.
Thank AGAIN—Maverick !! very informative — two questions---- will the Mattress Firm bunkie hold up in quality to the Mattress Foundations Bunkie? Secondly will the bunkie change the feel or comfort of the hybrid mattress or make it more to the firm side?

I’m not a fan of the Mattress Firm bunkie boards, to be honest. I was especially surprised by the metal model marketed as a bunkie board. The slat spacing simply is not appropriate for most modern hybrid mattresses. The other model is difficult to evaluate since the internal construction is not clearly shown, and it is not even recommended for standard beds. On top of that, the customer feedback is concerning.
By comparison, the Mattress Foundations Terra Bunkie is constructed like a true piece of furniture. It is solid, stable, and purpose-built to properly support today’s mattresses.
As for changing the feel of the mattress, it depends on the current support system. If the mattress is sitting on an inadequate foundation, then yes, the Terra Bunkie will absolutely improve the feel. When the support system is correct, the mattress can perform as designed. The support core works properly, and the comfort layers respond the way they are intended to. That usually results in better alignment and more consistent comfort.
