Need a new mattress, on very strict budget, PLEASE help!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone,

I’m so glad I found this site, I’ve been going crazy, blood pressure raising trying to find a decent full size mattress for my weight and budget,

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to mattresses, which has lead to some bad purchases, which is why I’m needing a new mattress,

I’m on a very strict budget, I don’t work, I get social security benefits, so I can only afford a mattress that cost more than $300,

What I need is a mattress that can hold my weight, obese, over 300 lbs, and that can help with back pain,

I’ve been eyeing this mattress at my local mattress firm, and I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of this mattress, and if it would fit my needs, also prefer to have a mattress without fiberglass, and nothing on mattress firm’s website states want fire retardant they use for this mattress,

Anywho, any help will be greatly appreciated, here is the link to the mattress I’m interested in,

Hybrid! Most companies are shifting to hybrid (spring and foam) since it provides the best of both worlds. You receive the pressure-relieving benefits of memory foam as well as the stability of a regular innerspring mattress.
Parts of your body, such as your hips, shoulders, and SI joints, require pressure alleviation. Parts of your body, such as your midsection and lower back, require support. All of this may be found in a medium-firm hybrid memory foam or latex mattress.
Because I am frequently asked this issue, I decided to write an article on it. This page contains a wealth of further information on the subject as well as recommendations. I hope this answer, as well as the post, is useful! A Sealy Cocoon is the most affordable mattress that I suggest for back pain at the greatest price. Sealy is one of the most well-known mattress manufacturers in the world. Their new Cocoon mattress starts at $1100 and incorporates TEMPUR-Pedic foams, so you know you’re receiving top-quality materials without the hefty price. It has a hardness rating of medium-firm, or approximately 5-6, which is a little gentler than I usually recommend. However, every single one of my patients who I suggested it to liked it.
I really discussed it in this piece. It was listed as “the most affordable mattress for back problems.” I feel that is the second best option. For more information on affordable mattresses take a look.

Hi Dustin001.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

Unfortunately, budget mattresses are budget for a reason - they are composed of the cheapest components which means reduced durability (2-3 years - maybe up to 5). Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with these mattresses - I have $300 mattress in one of my rooms as well. I just know that I’ll be replacing it much sooner than a latex hybrid, but I wasn’t in a position to buy a $900+ mattress at that time, either.

The good news is innersprings are very rarely a weak link in a mattress. A firm innerspring mattress with a topper of your liking may be a good solution considering your budget.

As for education for future purposes, I’d recommend checking out our Durability Guidelines as well as our Mattress Shopping Tutorial. This article on mattress budgets.
