Need Austin, TX Store Recommendation

Hello,

I have been reading the buyers guides and many other forum posts. I’d like to purchase an item from one of the partner companies; however, it seems like most of these mattress’ are order online or aren’t available in my area. I’d like to try something out before purchasing if there isn’t an easy return policy. We are in Austin, TX, and the two partner mattress companies in Texas don’t do business in Austin.

We have a Costco (great return policy, but none of the mattress’ seem to get good reviews here) and we have a Denver Mattress which people seem to not feel is quality.

Are there any local companies that sell approved Hybrid Latex mattress in Austin, TX that we can try out?

We are side and back sleepers, 170lbs and 125 lbs. Typically enjoy plush/medium beds.

Recommendations are welcome, as this process has been difficult. Thank you!

Hi mattressShoppingSucks.

Mattress shopping certainly is an adventure, isn’t it?

I’m sorry that you weren’t able to find a Trusted Member that easily caters to your area. I am unfamiliar with any in that area, but if you come across a mattress from a local retailer that you’d like us to evaluate, we are happy to do so.

If you decide to do some in person shopping, I’d suggest reading this article on finding a great retailer to help you get started.

Hi there, this is definitely a late reply but I guess this is more intended for future readers and I didn’t see anyone really answer this so here goes. Austin Natural Mattress is probably a good bet in this instance. We carry a very deep selection of latex mattresses from Avocado, Naturepedic, The Natural Mattress Home ect. Probably the largest selection you are going to find in Austin because mattresses made from natural materials is what we specialize in and we’ve been doing it for over 25 years. Wildflower Organics also has some quality latex options as well.

You could make a visit to Texas pocket springs if youre interested in a diy build. Their 15.5g coil base is perfect. Then all youd need is a 12" cover, a 2" layer of medium latex and a 2" layer of soft latex which you could get from mattresses.net

Total cost would be about 1300 for that.

In order to see if that would be a good fit for you, you could go test a birch luxe at “our sleep guide” in austin. It won’t feel exactly the same, but would give you an idea. That’s probably the best store you could visit to get a feel for the types of materials and build you prefer.

Yeah, that’s a common issue a lot of the recommended brands are online-only, which makes it hard to try before buying.

If you’re open to nearby options, you might want to check smaller local stores outside Austin as well. Places like Walker Mattress (around the Belton area) usually have in-stock options you can actually test in person, which helps a lot when figuring out the right comfort level.
