My first post here.
My girlfriend and I recently purchased our first King bed. Coming from a Full size it’s heaven. We purchased a Kingsdown Farrah mattress from our local Sleep store. They actually are a very well reviewed store with 4-5 locations. I didn’t go to an aftermarket/cheap store.
It’s a firmer mattress with a pillow top. With the first one we got it took a couple days to break in and it has been amazingly comfortable. We switched sides after a week so I could break in her side since I’m substantially heavier than her. The thing is, is it normal to occasionally hear springs popping. It usually happens when I pivot in and out of the bed. I can replicate the noise by going to where I usually have the most weight (where my hip usually is) and press down with some force. Usually you’ll feel and hear(not too loud) the coil buckle/compress/etc. I complained to the store about the first mattress and they didn’t think that was normal so they replaced it for me and after two nights this one does it too. Now, we really like the mattress and I can be a little too picky at times, but I want to make sure I’m getting a quality mattress for the $1,400.00 I spent on it.
If I return it I’d have to pay 10% restocking.
I’ve always slept on cheaper beds but I haven’t ever really noticed this noise. However, I’ve never bought a bed with my own money so I guess I never was as conscious of things to go wrong…?
Hi deeselcyde,
There is a good article here about “bed noises” and a popping sound is most likely to be coming from the mattress.
If you have confirmed that the sound is coming from the mattress (you can check this by putting it on the floor and seeing if you can repIicate the sound) and it’s noticeable enough to affect you and rotating the mattress doesn’t solve the problem then I would agree with them that it’s not “normal” and your best option would be to replace the mattress … hopefully as a warranty exchange without the 10% restocking.

Thank you for the link.
I don’t have very much room to put the mattress on the floor to check it but I’m 99.99% positive that it’s coming from the mattress. I can feel it in my hands when I press down on it. It’s almost like a combination of a click/pop sound that’s obviously muffled due to it being in the mattress.
