new latex mattress question (pics)

Just wanted to get an opinion on my new mattress. It was delivered from a local store on Friday am, NOT shipped. The first picture is what I ordered (and what it looked like in two separate showrooms), the second picture is what I received. It looks completely squished down. That was how it was delivered and it has not changed at all even by this evening. Is this normal, would you be concerned (it was a pricey item)??
(I attached the pics as files, hopefully they come through).

Hi cantsleep,

It definitely does not look correct to me. You might want to call the store you purchased it at if they are still open. I am sure Phoenix will have more information than I have with my limited knowledge.

Thanks CentralPA,

I do have a call into the store, the person I need is not available until tomorrow. Thought I’d gather some opinions here while I wait to sort it out with them.

I bought just the mattress and put it on my year old (perfectly good and ok’d by this store) tempur-pedic foundation, so it is getting the support there that it needs.

Hi cantsleep,

Would it be possible for you to post a picture that shows the complete mattress (similar to the other one).

I do see some slight unevenness but the view and scale is a little bit too close to tell much and a larger view that includes the top surface would be more helpful than a narrower view.

Is the top sleeping surface even with no impressions?

Hi Phoenix,
Thanks for taking a look. Here is a broader picture.

Hi cantsleep,

The picture of your mattress certainly doesn’t look like the EcoSanctuary picture and the topper and base seem to be close to the same thickness. It almost looks more like you have two toppers. I also see some sagging relative to the line on the wall.

The EcoSanctuary is supposed to be 11.5" thick according to the specs on Naturaworld … how thick is yours?

I agree that they don’t appear to be the same.

Thanks for validating what I thought I was seeing too, including the sagginess. They took warranty photos before leaving, so they will have the same pic on file as well.
Yes, I just measured and including the ticking, it all measures 10". The two layers do feel different from each other -the top layer is softer than the lower, but something is amiss here. I will see how the store handles this. What a huge bummer. Mattress shopping is becoming exhausting in so many ways!

Ok, So I called the salesperson and sent in pics with tape measurements, etc. The top looks uneven especially along the right side (as if someone broke that side in) but perhaps this is just the variation in the wool tufting??
Anyway, the bigger issue is the support layer is supposed to be 6" and my measurements (including the fabric covering) are 5"

They are so far not telling me much and that they are not sure there is anything wrong with this mattress…that latex has variations in it.
Will be talking with them again tomorrow, including the manager. What should I expect of them after getting one of the most expensive mattresses they sell and having these issues right from day 1?? Do latex mattresses have this kind of variation in a new mattress?? Will this lower layer compress even more when it actually “breaks in”?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Hi cantsleep,

Based on your pictures it seems to be more than just “natural variations” but you can determine this better in person.

If you believe that all the evidence indicates that what you received is substantially different from either the showroom models or the pictures of your mattress then I would ask for a replacement or a refund. I would also check the law tags to see if there are any differences between the showroom models and your mattress.
