Newer foam mattress causing pain - recommend solution and advice on latex topper

Hello and thank you for providing this very helpful site and forum. It is greatly appreciated!

I’m trying to figure our if my 3 month old Nectar Lush memory foam mattress is too firm or just not a good fit for my body type. I am a petite, pear shaped female, 5’3", 125-128 lbs newly suffering from chronic back/hip pain for the past year. I am by nature a combination back & side sleeper who prefers a soft/plush feeling mattresses. My previous mattress was a Simmons Beautyrest Recharge plush pillow-top which was so very comfortable, however, it didn’t last long as it had developed body impressions within the first 6 months which progressed to 3-4"+ deep dips less than 5 years later. It became unbearable causing pain in my low back and hips as I bottomed out. Last November I was on a mission to find a good mattress to replace it. After tons of research I wanted to go with a hybrid such as the Avocado or My Green Mattress. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 many mattress operations/manufacturer’s came to halt and were back-ordered taking 6-8+ weeks to ship. At this point I was desperate and couldn’t wait that long so I ended up purchasing a Nectar Lush from the Sleep Sherpa showroom in Minneapolis. I was hesitant to go with an all memory foam mattress but thought anything would be better than sleeping on the couch another week. The Lush seemed comfortable enough at first, slightly firm, but the support felt good for my back momentarily and it surprisingly sleeps cooler than I had expected. I wanted to wait and give my body time to adjust. However here I am 3 months later my pain seems to have gotten worse. Mostly lower back aches from tailbone area down, overall soreness and tightness, through the hips, and tingle soreness down thru my legs, knees, and heels. Pretty much my whole back side that is in contact with the mattress. Are these symptoms of pressure points? I also experience some neck and shoulder aches but that could be from my pillow. I am currently using an Avocado latex pillow which may not be compatible. Since sleeping on this mattress I’ve developed sciatica nerve pain that I did not have before. Also when sleeping on my side, my hips roll forward and/or backward causing strain on low back and pressure pain in hips/legs. I’m not sure if this is a lack of support or if I have anterior pelvic tilt. Regardless I can only sleep on my back now. The Lush mattress is considered medium firm (5 or 5.5) layer 1 has 3" cooling gel infused memory foam (medium firm) 3.5 pcf deep conforming, layer 2 with 2" energex foam (slightly firm/dense) 2.5 pcf, then last layer 7" high density polyfoam 1.8 pcf. The top foam in this mattress seems to be fairly slow responding, activated by heat, which takes awhile to warm up and sink into it. I’m not sure if I’m sinking in enough or sinking in too much? Perhaps my body weight is not being distributed evenly - back/hips sinking more into the mattress than my shoulders/upper back causing me to go out of alignment? I just feel like my muscles and joints are tight and never have a chance to relax. Any advice or insight on these issues would be greatly appreciated. Additionally I am considering trying a latex mattress topper to see if this will help, however, I am torn between Latex for Less soft talalay or Naturally Nestled (Take Ten) organic soft dunlop, and if 2" would be adequate for comfort/support or if I should go for 3" to change the feel entirely. In my research I’ve learned the difference between talalay and dunlop although I’m still not sure which way to go as both claim to be very soft. I feel my body would welcome the 3" inch of plushness but then I worry this could be too many comfort layers between the topper and my mattress and it not proving enough support that my body/back needs to stay aligned. But will 2 inches be enough? Or do I need medium talalay? I’m hoping you can please help me shed some light on this or at least get me closer to resolve. I thank you very much in advance.
