When you work in the mattress and bedding industry, it’s only natural to want to try all the things. I love learning firsthand what’s out there - the good, the weird, and the “why did I ever think this was a good idea?” products.
These are a few of my personal favorite finds from this year - just my own opinions and experiences as a sleep product nerd. Nothing here represents The Mattress Underground’s official stance, and I take full blame if you try something I love and you absolutely hate it.
As I say often on the forum: experience is relative. Comfort, support, and preferences vary wildly from person to person, so while I enjoy(ed) these, it’s perfectly reasonable if you don’t.
And with that said… here are my 2025 favorites!
Starting off strong with a Throwback Favorite: My Green Mattress Crib Mattress:
The My Green Mattress crib mattress that was gifted to me in 2020 was one of my most genuinely loved baby items. My son used it for years (from crib to toddler bed) and now that my son is in a big buy bed (cue sobbing) I recently passed it along to my dogs, who now believe they’ve inherited a luxury canine suite. Sorry @My_Green_Mattress, but it is now the world’s most special dog bed

- This combo topper from Amazon. It’s memory foam paired with a faux featherbed, and if you’re like me and want to become one with the comfort layer of your bed, it’s a dream
. I don’t know what kind of witchcraft is inside it, but it turns my bed into a cloud that actively tries to keep me from being productive. I will add the caveat that I love this product because I sink just-so into it. If you’re on the very light side, or the slightly heavier side, you’re probably not going to have the same one-with-the-topper experience because you’ll either float on top or bottom out. - Everything Baloo. Seriously, I’m considering giving everyone I know a @BalooLiving product for Christmas this year
. Their weighted blankets are perfect for people like me who want grounding and pressure without bulky thickness. And the weighted eye mask is next-level. My best friend has worn eye masks for 15+ years and she has no eye-dea (I had to) what kind of life-upgrade is about to hit her when she opens this 
. - A shredded latex pillow. I don’t know what took me so long, but now I’m fully converted. I love that I can punch it into the perfect shape or adjust the fill depending on what my very dramatic hypermobile neck needs that night (thanks hEDS)
. I personally love the adjustable shredded latex pillow from Latex Mattress Factory(@Latex_Mattress_Fact1), but the @CozyPure LaNoodle line has been calling my name too. - Don’t laugh, because I know this isn’t technically bedding, but I sleep in a pop-up mosquito net and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought
. My son sleeps in one too. It keeps out night bugs and, if I choose, my persistent cats. Highly recommend for anyone who has insect related OCD (me) and thinks there are bugs on them all night, even when there aren’t. - A silk pillowcase. I use a Blissy one that I received as a gift, and it has been wonderful for my quick-to-tangle hair
. I have noticeably less bedhead, and it has helped with the fine lines that come from squishing my face aggressively into a pillow every night. - This folding futon floor crash pad that is basically a not-quite-Nugget. I knew my almost-five-year-old would absolutely destroy whatever I bought, and I did NOT want to deal with the separate cushions of a Nugget type product. This buy has been surprisingly sturdy and really comfortable
. We’ve spent quite a few sick days lying on it together, and I can’t complain. It also has held up beautifully to the folding and jumping and fort building and more. And it has a removable washable cover, which is the true hero here. - GhostBed’s faux down pillow. My mom has the @GhostBed faux down pillow and I’m still not convinced it’s not real down. I liked it so much while staying with her that I genuinely considered sneaking it into my suitcase
. I resisted, but just barely.
And finally, my “why did I think this was a good idea” moment of the year: I treated myself to a gorgeous hand-loomed wool throw (made locally) because it felt like the perfect cozy addition to my blanket collection. It lasted about 48 hours before my cats decided it was their new artisanal kneading pasture 
. They kneaded it into a pile of loose fluff of oblivion. Lesson learned: if it’s any sort of knit, the cats will love it as much as I do…or did…
As a bonus, here’s a picture of the feline culprits (in said mosquito net). Special shoutout to the super boring gray waterproof blanket they’re sleeping on. No more knits for them.
