Off Topic: how to extend bed (hardware needed)

Let me start by apologizing for the slightly off-topic nature of this post.

We own a european bed (frame) that does not fit a king in with and does not fit a cal king in length. i would like to make the bed longer so it can host a cal king (extending the width is not an option).

the best option to do this is where the side panels connect to the headboard. these are currently L-brackets, 1" side length and ~4" long with 2 holes in each side.

one option would be to get custom L-brackets made that extend one side by 4" (thats how much longer i need to make the bed).

i wanted to post the question of someone is aware of any hardware that can be used for this case. someone told me about “moody plates” that used to be available to do such thing on beds, but i haven’t found anything with that description.

there are some pictures of our bed here:

thanks in advance

Hi pixbroker,

They may have meant “modi plates” which are used to attach a different size headboard or footboard to a bedframe.

Outside of this about the only thing I could think of would be replacing the side rails with longer siderails such as these or these which may not match your headboard or footboard or even making a pair of custom siderails.

Perhaps some of the other members here that have more experience with something like this may have some better solutions.
