Old Mattress Disposal Revisited

I searched the forum and found a few old posts on mattress disposal. Here’s a few more things that I found while Googling it.
Here’s a very good article about it on CNET
We live in TN and each county has their own laws about old mattresses. None of the recycle centers in our county or charities, i.e., Habitat for Humanity, are allowed to take used mattresses. We can not use ByeBye Mattress in TN. There are several local companies that will pick up a used mattress for a fee, ~$100-$130. The local land fill charges $25. to drop one off.
We live outside any city limits so we pay for garbage pickup. The company we use charges $100. for a mattress pickup plus $25. for the land fill fee.
Seaching on earth911 results in a Habitat for Humanity Restore but only for Knox county residents.
Our old mattress is still in great shape, no indentation or stains so I’m going to list it for Free on Facebook Market Place and Craigslist.
If no takers, then I will take the mattress apart and recycle the components. Our old mattress is a Sealy Reflections Newport Beach. A combination of Dunlop,Talalay and PU foams, no coils. Our recycle centers will take those.

I have given away mattresses on craigslist and FB marketplace is great. A person gets a free mattress plus you keep it out of the landfill

The landfill is my last choice.
