Ordered a 3" Soft (20 ILD) Pure Green Topper

Good day @phoenix,

I truly appreciate the time that you spend responding to all of the random requests that are generated on your website. I have been a frequent visitor and infrequent contributor for several years now.
Several months back I purchased the PuraSleep Serenity mattress that has been mentioned briefly here. Even with all of the research that I had done I allowed pricepoint to be too large of a deciding factor. The specs for the layers were not very detailed and it likely do not fit my PPP perfectly. The mattress has been OK, but I have found it to be firmer than I would like.
After quite a bit of forum hopping on TMU I ended up ordering a 3" Soft (20 ILD) Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper from SleepOnLatex one of the trusted members on TMU.
My question for you is whether it would make more sense to place the 3" latex topper on top of the rather unknown 2.5" top layer (3.5 lb microgel bead infused foam) or the 7.5" premium foam core layer? Basically, since the contents of both layers are really unknown, do you think it would be more beneficial to simply put the 3" latex topper directly on top of the top layer, or flip the mattress over and place the 3" latex topper on top of the 7.5" core layer. The foundation that is being used is not perfect, but is supporting the foam core layer without any issues.

Hi dschonew,

The PuraSleep Serenity uses 2.5" of 3.5 lb memory foam (lower quality than the 4 lb minimum I recommend) on top of a 7.5" polyfoam core of unknown density. As this mattress is too firm for your comfort preference, you’d want to place the topper on top of the memory foam layer, as in this manner you’d have the softer layers closest to your body. Flipping the mattress over with the memory foam beneath will be a harder feeling combination, as memory foam is not a very supportive material and when placed upon the bottom of the mattress it will tend to compress quite a bit to the point where it can almost be a “non-factor” in comfort.

Great, thank you for this information.

I just wanted to make sure that placing the new higher quality latex topper on top of the 3.5lb memory foam wouldn’t be an issue. If I were to flip the mattress over the 3.5lb memory foam would be on the bottom relegating it to an unused layer, with the new higher quality latex topper placed directly on top of the 7.5" polyfoam core.

Thanks again,
Dylan

Hi dschonew,

You’re welcome!
