Organic Dreams versus Select Sleep 10,000

HI - first let me thank you for your very informative website. We were drawn to it during our current search for a mattress for our 2-year old as she is about to give up her crib for her 5 month old sister! My husband and I currently sleep on a latex bed and love it. We are looking for something safe, high quality, and long-lasting. I had my eyes on the Organic Dreams mattress but it was a bit more expensive than I was looking to spend ($1849 for a twin).

I then came across Sleep EZ through your mattress forum and found what appears to be a very similar mattress (both on construction and materials). While not asking you to comment on which is the better mattress, would like any guidance you may help explain the $800 price differential:

My Green Mattress - Organic Dreams:
10 inches
3 layers of 3", 100% natural, Talalay latex
Cover made of organic cotton and natural wool
$1,849

EZMattress - Select Sleep 10,000
10 inches
3 layers of 3", 100% natual, Talalay latex
Cover: Cotton Damask zipper cover quilted to lambs wool

$1,050 (+ 2 free latex pillows)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
MH

Looking at the order form on Sleep EZ’s page, it appears that the talalay is blended, not 100%. Perhaps that is a main contributor to the price difference.

Hi MartaH,

The roughly equivalent mattress in the SleepEz lineup would be their 10" natural latex line here which also uses 100% natural Talalay.

There may also be a mistake in the pricing on the My Green Mattress website because their twin XL is listed at $1349 which is less than their regular twin mattress. The full XL is also less than the regular full size.

Differences in pricing can come from many factors including different business models, suppliers, margins, and many other factors that leads to price differences between different manufacturers or retailers in any product but the cover is also a significant part of the price and a two sided mattress that is quilted and “finished” and suitable for sleeping on both sides is also a more costly construction.
