Thanks for this website. Very interesting and detailed research. I can’t seem to find anything regarding The Original Mattress Factory which seems to be a regional company with local manufacturing. We are looking at their latex models which have these details:

All Latex models are padded equally on both sides of the mattress.
6" Talatech® Talalay Latex Foam Core - 30-34 ILD, 4.7lb/ft³ Density (Tolerance ±.25lb/ft³)
Convoluted Talatech® Talalay Latex Foam Topper – 17-21 ILD, 3.25lb/ft³ Density (Tolerance ±.25lb/ft³)
FR Fiber
Quilted Panel Featuring a Premium Damask Fabric Cover
Heavy Duty Cloth Handles

Have you any experience/recommendations regarding this type of latex foam core? Any other manufacturers in the Minneapolis area you would suggest to check out? Thanks.

Hi Pleesnyder,

If you do a forum search on originalmattress (click the search button to the right of the rules button) you will find quite a few mentions of them in the forum. They use Talalay latex manufactured by Latex International.

They are also highly regarded in a consumer survey done in 2009 (ranked 2nd out of 10 brands in the survey and ahead of every major brand except Tempurpedic).

There is one other factory direct manufacturer I know of besides OMF in Minneapolis …

One other outlets may be worth looking at …

pmbedroomgallery-mn.com They are a retail direct outlet for Clare Bedding which manufactures Restonic and also their own brand called Platinum Dreams. They make some very nice mattresses as well.
